Some 50-plus DAC Car Club members experienced a rare peak at automotive history. The curators of the Detroit Historical Society, led by automotive historian Dave Marchioni, escorted the car club for several hours of automotive history in storage at the DHS warehouse on April 15. Cars shown in detail included a 1963 Mustang II prototype Mustang. Henry Joy, the President of the DAC in 1916, and President of Packard Motor Cars, has his personal vehicle in a bubble for preservation.
One of the first Shelby Cobra cars, Horace Dodge’s personal car, yeah, that Dodge brother and so many, many more vehicles. Detroit’s automotive history was brought to life for fortunate DAC Car Club Members!
Dave and colleagues also presented on the DHS at a reception at the DAC following the rare warehouse tour. There are opportunities for car club members to adopt a car in the DHS collection. If you have an interest in helping to preserve these historic cars, please contact Bruce Babiarz, Cheers!
