DAC Car Club enjoys unique vantage points for the Woodward Dream Cruise

Car Club members make history Dream Cruise Weekend!

Nearly 100 DAC Car Club members and guests kicked off the Woodward Dream Cruise in August by joining fellow members at the Kingsley Inn on Woodward Avenue Friday, August 17.

Tents were set up along Woodward and a full buffet of food was available to Car Club members along with soft drinks and options for full-bar service as desired. A great live band, food friends and awesome cars. Cars, did we mention cars?

Car club members brought and displayed their specialty cars, muscle cars and exotics!  Mustangs, Oldsmobiles, Corvettes, Ferraris and an array of awesome steel, chrome and engine muscle!

Car Club Board Member Lauren Mendelson displayed her Carbon Fiber Ford GT out front along with nearly 40 other Ford GTs! The group made history on Saturday as the largest convoy of Ford GTs in one place. The Bloomfield Hills fire department blocked Woodward so the GT’s could gather and parade down Woodward! Congratulations Lauren and the GT owners!

Kudos to Board member R.J. King for leading the Dream Cruise event and making final arrangements with the Kingsley Inn. Car Club Board members in attendance awarded Kingsley General Manager with a token of appreciation with a crystal DAC Car Club logo for his great display of hospitality!

Earlier in the day on Friday more history was made with DAC Car Club members in association with the famed M1 Concours Track in Pontiac. M1 CEO Tim McGrane and his team put together a historic display of Corvettes from 1953 through 2023! The amazing display of vehicles representing each year included the 1983 Corvette which technically never went into production and rolled in the 1984 year. General Motors authorized the 1983 badged vehicle to be on loan from the National Corvette Museum for this display!

The M1 took photos and video via drones, skateboarding photographers, cherry pickers and on the ground. Amazing event and Board members Ken Lingenfelter and Bruce Babiarz had cars on display representing the 70-years of Corvette history! A great day to be sure, never been done before and may never be done again. Congratulations M1!!!
