For the third straight year the DAC Car Club provided a VIP opportunity to see the 109th running of the Indy500 – the greatest spectacle in Racing! An enthusiastic contingent of DAC Car Club members gathered Saturday of Memorial Day weekend in Indianapolis to watch the pre-race parade through the streets of downtown Indianapolis.
Reserved seats near the historic war monument and fountain welcomed DAC members as drivers for the Indy500 stopped to sign autographs and bands played and floated of cars, helmets and drivable Oscar Meyer Weiners drove by!
DAC Car Club members gathered together for dinner Saturday night at the Hilton Inn before readying for the big race on Sunday.
A box lunch was provided along with a bus ride with police escort to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway was arranged. In no time we were among 350,000-plus race fans and the Speedway was crackling with excitement. The weather was a bit unusually cool but the rain spit a tiny bit but held off and the afternoon was partly cloudy and race ready. A number of members toured the newly expanded Indy500 Museum prior to the race after a $60 million renovation since last year.
